For many years in my private practice I have noticed that what people eat and how they digest their meals play a large role in how they were feeling and their level of health and vitality. The greater the digestive challenges the more symptoms that were present. It was also apparent that many people have difficulties and imbalances in their elimination of waste products.

Many of today’s medical conditions and degenerative diseases are due to issues involving digestion and elimination, such as, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, sugar imbalances such as diabetes and hypoglycemia, headaches, arthritis, weight gain, constipation, acid reflux, heart burn, hormonal imbalances and many others.

These conditions usually get treated with medications that address the ‘symptoms’ yet do nothing to clear the “causes” not to mention side effects.

Not only are people eating sub nutritious, chemically infused and processed foods with very little usable nutritional value, we also have many digestive and elimination challenges. We are a culture of “sub clinical malnutrition” whereby we get enough (empty) calories yet the ‘quality’ of our nutritional intake and utilization is poor. May this contribute to the widespread obesity issue?

The fact is either a food is good for you or it is not. If it is boxed, canned or micro waved chances are it has little nutritional value not to mention ‘life force’ and has a “weakening” or degenerative effect on the body.

Upon further inquiry and advanced applied kinesiology testing it is revealed that many organs and glands are involved in and affected by digestion and elimination. Digestion and elimination are whole body processes and involve many organs and glands, such as the; stomach, small intestines, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, thyroid, large intestine along with many hormones and enzymes.

The heart, lungs, circulation, blood vessels, hormones and many other body parts are affected by foods and digestion! Digestion is a big issue that needs to be addressed on a daily basis. Even on a meal by meal basis. Eating processed and sub nutritious foods along with poor digestion and elimination are one of the major causes for many of the degenerative diseases we are seeing today.

Even when people eat live raw foods, there are chronic and hereditary imbalances that prevent the full digestion and elimination of these vital foods. On a consistent basis I would see that what people ate and how they (or did not) digest their food, and eliminate waste products, had a profound effect on how they felt, looked and their level of well-being. Audrey, my five year, old, has had bloating and cramping for several years and her pediatrician’s solution was to give her a stool softener every day.   Since we began using the digestive band (she wears it around her ankle for 3-4 minutes after meals) her bloating has gone down considerably, but more importantly, she no longer doubles over and cries out in pain.
